 ‘\, Briefe schreiben und Kneipe ✉️\nDie Rote Hilfe Leipzig lädt euc
 h am Tag der politischen Gefangenen ab 18.30 Uhr in die Meuterei (Zollschu
 ppenstr. 1) ein. 🎥 Wir zeigen ab 19 Uhr die Doku ‚48 Cantones: The Ma
 yan Forest‘ (30 Min\, spanisch mit englischem Untertitel) von Thomas und
  Julian Moll-Rocek und geben einen kleinen Input zu den politischen Gefang
 enen der Organisation. Im Anschluss könnt ihr Briefe an Gefangene schreib
 en und bei einem Getränk zusammensitzen ✨\n\nDer 18. März als Tag der 
 politischen Gefangenen knüpft an die Tradition der Arbeiter*innenbewegung
  an und bezieht sich vor allem auf das Gedenken an den Beginn des Aufstand
 es der Pariser Kommune 1871. Zum ersten Mal wurde der Tag 1923 von der int
 ernationalen Roten Hilfe ausgerufen.\n\nIn unserer Veranstaltung wollen wi
 r auf die politischen Gefangenen der ‚48 Cantones‘ aufmerksam machen. 
 ‚Los 48 Cantones‘ ist eine Organisation von 48 Gemeinden (Kommunalregi
 erungen) mit mehrheitlich indigenen Menschen (K'iche) in Totonicapan. Dies
 e existierten bereits vor der Kolonisierung und agieren heute parallel zum
  Staat. Sie verwalten 50.000 Hektar Wald\, betreiben ihr eigenes Rechtssys
 tem\, verwalten öffentliche Dienste und schützen die indigene Kultur. Si
 e funktionieren auf demokratische Weise\, unabhängig vom Staat. In der Do
 kumentation geht es um die Organisierung und das Zusammenleben in der Komm
 unalregierung\, nicht um die Repression gegen die Aktivist*innen.\n\nNach 
 Protesten im Jahr 2023 die sich gegen einen Staatsstreich richteten\, wurd
 en ab April 2025 4 indigene Aktivisten verhaftet. Ihnen wird "Terrorismus\
 , Behinderung der Justiz und Mitgliedschaft in einer kriminellen Vereinigu
 ng" vorgeworfen. Zwei von ihnen befinden sich seitdem in Untersuchungshaft
 . Andere sind unter Auflagen mittlerweile wieder frei. In Guatemala haben 
 Gefangene erst nach der Verurteilung Anspruch auf Nahrung\, Kleidung\, Med
 ikamente usw. im Gefängnis. Während sie also auf ihr Urteil warten\, wir
 d nichts davon vom Staat bereitgestellt. Deshalb sind die Familien in der 
 Verantwortung\, mehrmals pro Woche in die Hauptstadt zu fahren\, um ihren 
 Angehörigen auf eigene Kosten Grundnahrungsmittel zu bringen. Da die Verf
 ahren seit über 10 Monaten still stehen und die Aktivisten die Hauptverdi
 ener ihrer Familien waren\, ist diese Situation eine enorme finanzielle Be
 lastung. Wir freuen uns über Spenden für die Gefangenen und ihre Familie
 n!\n\nBarrieren: Die Doku ist auf spanisch und ein kurzer Teil auf K’ich
 e’\, beides mit englischem Untertitel. Ein kurzer Teil ist auf englisch 
 ohne Untertitel. Die Meuterei ist über eine Rampe berollbar oder über Tr
 eppenstufen zugänglich. Es gibt eine barrierefreie Toilette. In den Räum
 en wird nicht geraucht. An der Bar gibt es alkoholische und nicht alkoholi
 sche Getränke.\n\nKnast demütigt\, vereinzelt\, stigmatisiert und soll d
 ie Betroffenen aus ihren Zusammenhängen reißen und entpolitisieren. Lass
 t uns am 18. März gemeinsam die Mauern der Isolation durchbrechen und die

 r ✉️\nThe Rote Hilfe Leipzig invites you to the Meuterei (Zollschuppen
 str. 1) on Political Prisoners' Day from 6:30 p.m. 🎥 At 7 p.m.\, we wil
 l show the documentary ‘48 Cantones: The Mayan Forest’ (30 min\, Spani
 sh with English subtitles) by Thomas and Julian Moll-Rocek and give a shor
 t presentation on the political prisoners of the organisation. Afterwards\
 , you can write letters to prisoners and have some drinks ✨\n\nMarch 18 
 as Political Prisoners' Day continues the tradition of the labor movement 
 and refers primarily to the commemoration of the beginning of the Paris Co
 mmune uprising in 1871. The day was first proclaimed in 1923 by the 'Inter
 national Red Aid' (internationale Rote Hilfe).\n\nIn our event\, we want t
 o draw attention to the political prisoners of the ‘48 Cantones’. ‘L
 os 48 Cantones’ is an organisation of 48 municipalities (local governmen
 ts) with a majority of indigenous people (K'iche) in Totonicapan/Guatemala
 . These existed before colonization and today operate parallel to the stat
 e. They manage 50\,000 hectares of forest\, operate their own legal system
 \, administer public services\, and protect indigenous culture. They funct
 ion democratically and independently of the state. The documentary focuses
  on organisation and coexistence in local governments\, not on the repress
 ion of activists.\n\nFollowing protests in 2023 against a coup d'état\, f
 our indigenous activists were arrested from April 2025 on. They are accuse
 d of “terrorism\, obstruction of justice\, and membership in a criminal 
 organisation.” Two of them have been in pretrial detention ever since. O
 thers have since been released on bail. In Guatemala\, prisoners are only 
 entitled to food\, clothing\, medicine\, etc. in prison after they have be
 en convicted. So while they await their verdict\, none of this is provided
  by the state. This means that their families are responsible for travelin
 g to the capital several times a week to bring their relatives basic food 
 supplies at their own expense. Since the proceedings have been at a stands
 till for over 10 months and the activists were the main breadwinners for t
 heir families\, this situation is an enormous financial burden. We welcome
  donations for the prisoners and their families!\n\nBarriers: The document
 ary is in Spanish and a short part is in K'iche'\, both with English subti

 ible via a ramp or stairs. There is a barrier-free toilet. Smoking is not 
 permitted in the rooms. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are availabl
 e at the bar.\n\nPrison humiliates\, isolates\, stigmatises\, and is inten
 ded to tear those affected from their communities and depoliticise them. O

  invita el Día de los Presos Políticos a partir de las 18:30 hrs al Meut
 erei (Zollschuppenstr. 1). 🎥 A partir de las 19 hrs proyectaremos el do
 cumental «48 Cantones: The Mayan Forest» (30 min\, en español con subt
 ítulos en inglés) de Thomas y Julian Moll-Rocek y daremos una pequeña c
 harla sobre los presos políticos de la organización. A continuación\, s
 e puede escribir cartas a los presos y tomar bebidas en el bar ✨\n\nEl 1
 8 de marzo\, Día de los Presos Políticos\, se remonta a la tradición de
 l movimiento obrero y se refiere principalmente al recuerdo del inicio de 
 la insurrección de la Comuna de París en 1871. Este día fue proclamado 
 por primera vez en 1923 por la 'Ayuda Roja internacional'.\n\nEn nuestro e
 vento queremos llamar la atención sobre los presos políticos de los «48
  Cantones». «Los 48 Cantones» es una organización de 48 comunidades (g
 obiernos locales) con una mayoría de población indígena (K'iche) en Tot
 onicapán/Guatemala. Estos ya existían antes de la colonización y hoy en
  día actúan en paralelo al Estado. Administran 50 000 hectáreas de bosq
 ue\, tienen su propio sistema judicial\, gestionan los servicios públicos
  y protegen la cultura indígena. Funcionan de manera democrática\, indep
 endientemente del Estado. El documental trata de la organización y la con
 vivencia en el gobierno municipal\, no de la represión contra los activis
 tas.\n\nTras las protestas de 2023 contra un golpe de Estado\, a partir de
  abril de 2025 fueron detenidos cuatro activistas indígenas. Se les acusa
  de «terrorismo\, obstrucción a la justicia y pertenencia a una organiza
 ción criminal». Dos de ellos se encuentran desde ese tiempo en prisión 
 preventiva. Otros han sido puestos en libertad con condiciones (casos abie
 rtos). En Guatemala\, los presos sólo tienen derecho a comida\, ropa\, me
 dicamentos\, etc. en la cárcel después de haber sido condenados. Por lo 
 tanto\, mientras esperan su sentencia\, el Estado no les proporciona nada 
 de eso. Por eso\, las familias tienen la responsabilidad de viajar varias 
 veces a la semana a la capital para llevar a sus familiares alimentos bás
 icos por cuenta propia. Dado que estos casos llevan estancados diez meses 
 y los activistas eran los principales sustentadores de sus familias\, esta
  situación supone una enorme carga financiera. ¡Agradecemos cualquier do
 nación para los presos y sus familias!\n\nBarreras: El documental está e
 n español y una pequeña parte en K'iche'\, ambos con subtítulos en ingl
 és. Una pequeña parte está en inglés sin subtítulos. Se puede acceder
  al Meuterei por una rampa o por unas escaleras. Hay un baño adaptado par
 a sillas de ruedas. No se permite fumar en las salas.\n\nLa cárcel humill
 a\, aísla\, estigmatiza y tiene como objetivo arrancar a los afectados de
  su contexto y despolitizarlos. ¡El 18 de marzo rompamos juntos los muros
  del aislamiento y hagamos sentir a los presos nuestra solidaridad! ¡Por
