As we see education as an opportunity for liberation\, we want to learn together about trauma and traumatization on a two-weekly base.\n\nAs book we have chosen "The Politics of Trauma: Somatics\, Healin g\, and Social Justice" by Staci K Haines:\n\n"How can trauma be transform ed\, resilience built and collective action embodied? Staci K. Haines pres ents a groundbreaking somatic approach to trauma work that reminds us to c ourageously engage in our own transformation as well as anti-racist\, quee r\, anti-sexist\, ecological and anti-capitalist justice. Only then will w e be able to live fulfilled and powerful lives and achieve the social chan ge we desire."\n\nIn order to make the reading circle accessible to more p eople\, we choose English as the language for our meetings. This is also t o prevent only some of the participants from speaking a second language\, so that more balanced contributions can be made.\n\nWe'll be meeting every other week on monday in EG125 from 6-8pm - maybe with option for hangout until 9pm.\n\nAt the first meeting - planned for October 21st - we want to discuss the content of the group\, get to know each other a bit and share what everyone needs to participate well and safely in the process.\n\nYou will not need the book or any preparation for the first meeting!\n\nIf yo u have questions or insecurities\, of course there will be room for that a s well.\n\nTherefore it would be helpful if you write down your needs\, wi shes and worries that come up when you think of joining the group. – Be it around language\, neurodivergency\, fear that others may lack awareness for certain issues\, social anxiety\, etc etc. - At the meeting we might collect and write these on papers\, and we will discuss all of it in small groups\, without necessarily knowing who wrote what (except if people wan t to share it).\n\nBarriers\n\nThe room is only accessible via steps and t he toilet is not wheelchair accessible.\n\nThe heating is often not switch ed on before we meet so it could be quite cold during winter\, but we coul d cook tea there.\n\nThere are various seating options and discreet lighti ng. It is a non-smoking room.\n\nCovid - for the first meeting please test yourselves before. Please stay at home with cold symptoms\, even if you h ave had a negative Covid test.
