 n\n\nInes wird Anfang der 1960er-Jahre in der DDR geboren und wächst als 
 dunkelhäutige Tochter in einer weißen Familie auf. Die Eltern ziehen sie
  mit der Behauptung groß\, ihre Hautfarbe sei purer Zufall. Je älter Ine
 s wird\, desto klarer wird ihr\, dass diese Erklärung nicht reichen kann.
  Auch weil ihr durch Außenstehende immer wieder bewusst gemacht wird\, da
 ss sie anders zu sein scheint. In Originalaufnahmen und Gesprächen rekons
 truiert die Filmemacherin ihre Familiengeschichte\, und gibt Einblick in d
 ie Erfahrungen von People of Color in der DDR. Ihre sehr persönliche Such
 e nach Antworten führt sie nicht zuletzt nach Togo und bricht mit systemi
 schem Schweigen und Verdrängen.\n\nInes was born in the GDR in the early 
 1960s and grew up as a dark-skinned daughter in a white family. Her parent
 s raised her claiming that her skin color was pure coincidence. The older 
 Ines gets\, the more it becomes clear to her that this explanation cannot 
 be satisfying. Especially because people around her make her painfully awa
 re that she seems different. In this very personal film\, the filmmaker re
 constructs her family history in original photos and conversations\, and g
 ives an insight into the experiences of People of Color in the GDR. Her se
 arch for answers leads her not least to Togo and breaks with systemic sile
