SUMMARY:EU Border Externalisation Regime in the Saharan Desert
DESCRIPTION:For some years now\, Europe has been extending control of its b
 orders\nfurther south. This process is commonly referred to as the outsour
 cing\nof the EU's borders. Since 2015\, Europe's border has been establish
 ed in\nNiger\, in the middle of the Sahara Desert\, which heavily affected
  the\nregion.\n\nIn this presentation\, Dan Yayé Moctar will explain how 
 European\ninfluence has manifested itself in Niger\, and what consequences
  this\ninfluence had on the lives of local populations in Niger and the EC
 OWAS\nsub-region in general. He will talk both about economic consequences
  for\nthe local population and the consequences felt by the people crossin
 g\nthe Sahara. He will also discuss the evolution of migration policies in
 \nNiger since the advent of the European migration narrative.\n\nHimself a
  member of Alarme Phone Sahara\, Dan Yayé Moctar will also show\nthe solu
 tions and practical responses of local actors\, notably the work\nof Alarm
 e Phone Sahara. He will discuss both the mass expulsions from\nAlgeria to 
 Niger in recent years and the Nigerien civil society's\nstruggle against t
 he 036-2015 ("anti-migration") Law.\n\nIf possible\, we would like to disc

 Wer gibt Grenzen eigentlich das Recht zu existieren? Und was hat es für\n
 Konsequenzen\, dass es sie gibt? Ab dem 15. April immer montags um 19 Uhr\
 nwollen wir diese Fragen zum Thema machen\, mit Filmvorführungen und\nint
 erdisziplinären Vorträgen von Akademiker*innen &amp\; Aktivist*innen. Di
 e\nEU-Außengrenzen manifestieren sich nicht nur in den Lagern auf Lesbos\
 noder im Mittelmeer\, sie wirken auch weit darüber hinaus\, bis nach Liby
 en\nund Niger. Innerhalb der EU sind Grenzen ebenso spürbar: An den\nLän
 dergrenzen\, wie etwa zwischen Frankreich und Italien\, und bis nach\nSach
 sen und Leipzig hinein\, in den Camps und Behörden. Über diese\nWirkung 
 von Grenzen wollen wir sprechen. „Border Struggle" soll dabei\naber nich
 t nur Probleme aufzeigen\, sondern auch die Menschen zu Wort\nkommen lasse
 n\, die sich gegen die Auswirkungen von Grenzen organisieren\n- egal ob in
