Die Umstände\, die zum Tod von Grigore Velcu und Euda che Calderar führten\, wurden bis heute nicht aufgeklärt. Offiziell hand elte es sich um einen Jagdunfall\, eine tragische Verwechslung mit Wildsch weinen. Zu einer Verurteilung der Jäger kam es nie.\n\nKnapp 20 Jahre sp äter führt Philip Scheffner die gründliche Ermittlung durch\, die damal s nicht stattfand. Er sucht die Angehörigen der Getöteten in Rumänien a uf und lässt sie die Aussagen machen\, die nie gehört wurden. Wie allen anderen Zeug*innen und Sachkundigen\, die er erneut befragt\, gibt er ihne n die Möglichkeit\, ihre Statements anzuhören und zu überdenken – and ers als die gängige Praxis\, die einmal gemachte Aussagen zum Fakt erhebt . So unterwirft Scheffner nicht nur den Fall einer filmischen Revision\, s ondern auch das eigene Medium. The circums tances which led to the death of Grigore Velcu and Eudache Calderar have n ot been clarified even today. According to official reports\, they were vi ctims of a hunting accident\, a tragic mix-up over wild boar. The hunters were never convicted.  \n\nNearly 20 years later\, Philip Scheffner carri es out the painstaking investigation that never took place back then. He s eeks out the dead men’s relatives in Romania and records the statements they were unable to give until now. As with the other witnesses and differ ent experts he returns to question\, he gives them the opportunity to list en to their own statements and reassess them as necessary – unlike stand ard practice\, which elevates statements to fact the very moment they are made. In this way\, Scheffner performs a cinematic revision of the case an d the medium simultaneously. His diligent handling of material and reports creates a web of landscapes\, recollections\, case files and German polit ical sentiment all of an increasingly oppressive complexity.
