Im Anschluss: Gespräch mit den Regisseur*innen Valentina Cicogna un d Mattia Colombo.\n\nEvery night\, unidentified bodies arrive at the autop sy suite of Dr. Cristina Cattaneo\, Italy’s first professor of forensic anthropology. These "pure unknowns" belong to society’s marginalized gro ups — lately\, above all\, migrants whose bodies wash up on Italy’s sh ores. They are the dead whose identities are difficult to establish and fo r whom no one feels responsible. With almost no resources at her disposal\ , Cattaneo strives to identify the many victims from the Mediterranean and campaigns for a change in European legislation that would oblige all EU s tates to establish the identity of every deceased person.
