MEIN LEBEN TEIL 2 (Dokumentarfilm; zum Holocaust-Gedenktag)

„Zu meinem achtzehnten Geburtstag überreichte mir meine Mutter ein Papier mit zehn Punkten, das sie mir als Vermächtnis auf meinen Weg mitgab. Punkt 1 lautet: ‚Der Sinn unseres Lebens ist Evolution, hin zur Vollendung. Nichts, was entsteht und gut ist, wird weggeworfen. Es wird auf das schon Erreichte aufgebaut. Du stammst von Josefs Bruder Levi ab, der vor dreitausend Jahren lebte.‘ Meine Mutter sammelte und archivierte ihre eigene Geschichte. Ich habe sie geerbt und daraus einen Film gemacht, in dem es vor allem um Wahrnehmung, um das Vermächtnis und um den Umgang mit Geschichte geht. Anhand von Gegenständen, Fotos, Ton- und Filmaufnahmen erzähle ich, was in der Familie verbreitet und verschwiegen wurde. Der Film handelt von Traumatisierung und gleichzeitig davon, wie auf Makro- und Mikroebenen permanent Geschichte produziert, archiviert, in einen Diskurs gebracht und eingeordnet wird – und davon, wie ich selbst immer weiter sammelte, damit alles zusammen eine Erzählung ergibt.“ (Angelika Levi)

Die Veranstaltung wurde von Film- und Medienwissenschaftlerin Borjana Gaković kuratiert, die vor dem Film eine Einführung geben wird und anschließend mit der Regisseurin ins Gespräch geht.

ENG: „On my eighteenth birthday, my mother gave me a note with ten points that she left me as a legacy for my journey through life. Point 1 reads: ‚The meaning of our lives is evolution, toward perfection. Nothing that comes into being and is good is thrown away. It builds on what has already been achieved. You are descended from Joseph’s brother Levi, who lived three thousand years ago.‘ My mother collected and archived her own history. I inherited it and turned it into a film that is primarily about perception, legacy, and dealing with history. Using objects, photos, audio and film recordings, I recount what was shared and what was kept secret in the family. The film is about trauma and, at the same time, about how history is constantly being produced, archived, brought into discourse, and classified on macro and micro levels — and about how I myself continued to collect so that everything together would form a narrative.“ (Angelika Levi) (German with English subtitles)

The event was curated by film and media scholar Borjana Gaković, who will give an introduction before the film and will moderate the talk with the director after the film.
